Position Overview
Rooter King Plumbers is seeking a motivated, high-integrity Plumber Apprentice to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an individual looking to build a long-term career in the plumbing trade by learning directly under the supervision of experienced, licensed plumbers.
The Plumber Apprentice will assist lead plumbers with residential and commercial service calls, installations, maintenance, and repairs while developing the practical skills, safety knowledge, and code compliance required to become a journeyman plumber. We are growing exponentially by building a structured, accountable operation, and we offer dedicated mentorship for individuals who possess a strong work ethic, a customer-first mindset, and a genuine eagerness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Plumbers: Help licensed plumbers diagnose, install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial piping systems, fixtures, and appliances.
- Installations & Repairs: Assist with water supply lines, DWV piping, tank and tankless water heaters, filtration systems, toilets, sinks, disposal units, valves, gas lines (under supervision), and sump/sewage pumps.
- Drain & Sewer Services: Assist with drain cleaning, sewer camera inspections, hydro jetting equipment, and clearing blockages.
- Customer Service & Jobsite Protection: Greet customers professionally, maintain a clean appearance, and protect customer property using drop cloths, shoe covers, and thorough post-job cleanup.
- Jobsite Preparation & Labor: Measure and cut pipe, dig trenches when necessary, handle demolition/cleanup, and assist with loading, unloading, and organizing service trucks and materials.
- Documentation & Technology: Accurately document jobs, record materials used, take before-and-after photos, and utilize company management software (Service Fusion) on mobile devices.
- Safety & Code Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA safety standards, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), study local plumbing codes, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Vehicle & Warehouse Care: Keep company service vehicles, tools, equipment, and the warehouse clean, organized, and properly stocked.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (ability to safely operate company vehicles if authorized).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and strong hands-on problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- Strong communication, active listening, and teamwork skills.
- High integrity and a customer-first attitude.
- Willingness to complete assigned apprenticeship training and work toward obtaining a journeyman license.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds; stand, kneel, crawl, and climb for extended periods; and work comfortably in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and varying outdoor weather conditions.
