American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Ortho) night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring a CT or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

MS/Tele unit with an orthopedic focus at a large, short-term acute care hospital and Level I Trauma Center with over 1,500 staffed beds

Average patient ratio of 1:5

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
-
No on-call requirements

Block scheduling is not available
-
Charting is done in Epic (required)
-
Parking is available at a cost of $125/month

Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date (CT licensure takes 15–21 business days to issue — candidates should apply early)

Current BLS certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in the specialty required; 1.5 years may be considered for candidates with Level I trauma center or travel nursing experience

Experience at a large trauma center or major academic medical center required for this position
-
Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and peripheral line care required

Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management required

Experience with Epic EMR required

Candidates must not have any priors on their nursing license

One professional reference required for consideration

This is a large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center
-
Skills in PICC line management, feeding tube care, heparin/insulin/PCA administration, and respiratory support (nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oral suctioning) are preferred

Experience with total joint replacement, surgical drains, and spinal cord injury patients is preferred

Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience are preferred

Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted

COVID vaccination is required, with religious or medical exemptions considered

RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval

Candidates who were previously employed at this facility as permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler

Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
