Join our dedicated team as a Dietary Aide/Cook, where you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, delicious meals to our residents while ensuring a safe and welcoming dining environment. You will be responsible for preparing meals, adhering to dietary requirements, maintaining sanitation standards, and assisting with food service operations. Duties
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, menus, and residents’ specific nutritional needs, including special diets.
- Assist with food production, portioning, plating, and serving meals to residents and staff efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and dining areas following food safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, mixers, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
- Support dietary department operations by bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and ensuring proper food handling and sanitation practices.
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy loads or moving supplies to prevent injury.
- Adhere to workplace safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to ensure a safe environment for yourself and others.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition principles and dietary requirements for geriatric patients or individuals with special needs.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy meal periods.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and managing portion sizes accurately.
- Exceptional customer service skills to interact positively with residents, staff, and visitors.
- Knowledge of food handling procedures, sanitation standards, and heavy lifting techniques for safe manual handling.
- CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
