Gerharts Landscaping is seeking a dedicated Hardscape Crew Leader to join our team and help deliver exceptional outdoor living spaces for our clients. As a leader in landscape construction, we pride ourselves on quality craftsmanship, professionalism, and a supportive team environment. The Hardscape Crew Leader will oversee and work alongside a crew to install patios, walkways, retaining walls, drainage systems, outdoor steps, and related features. This role is essential to ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards, while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Lead and supervise daily hardscape installation crews on job sites

Delegate tasks, maintain production, and ensure crews are prepared each day

Train and coach crew members on installation techniques and company expectations

Promote teamwork, professionalism, and accountability among crew members

Read and interpret work orders, layouts, and project plans

Oversee site preparation, excavation, base installation, compaction, paver and wall installation, grading, drainage, material staging, and final detailing

Monitor project progress and communicate delays or concerns proactively

Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available, used properly, and maintained

Maintain organized, clean, and professional jobsites

Ensure all work meets Gerharts Landscaping quality standards, including proper grades, elevations, and installation methods

Identify and correct issues before project completion and perform regular walkthroughs

Protect customer property during construction

Lead by example with safe equipment operation and jobsite practices

Conduct daily safety awareness and ensure proper PPE is worn

Operate and oversee use of skid steers, mini excavators, plate compactors, cut-off saws, dump trailers, and trucks

Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs

Track material usage and communicate shortages

Communicate professionally with clients, management, and team members

Assist with snow operations during winter months as needed

3+ years of hardscape or landscape construction experience preferred

Previous crew leadership experience preferred

Ability to read plans and understand grades/elevations

Experience operating construction equipment

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical outdoor work daily

Valid drivers license required

MondayFriday with seasonal overtime as needed

Occasional Saturdays during peak season

Crew Leader/Machine Operator in winter snow operations required
