Job Description
Pay Range: $69,300-$80,885 per year
- Supervise, analyze, guide and control all aspects of hatchery production to produce the highest quality chick at the lowest possible cost.
- Responsible for hatch, transfer, chick quality, productivity, safety and cost.
- Supervise production and quality and humane handling of up to 760,000 chicks daily.
- Supervise transfer and quality of up to 774,000 eggs daily.
- Establish and maintain labor efficiencies.
- Provide safety training for all employees, perform safety inspections and audits monthly.
- Control inventory of eggs, chemicals and supplies.
- Control inventory of vaccine about $2,453,000.
- Responsible for the supervision, development and training of employees and drivers.
- Provide Animal Welfare training to all employees.
- Coordinate labor needs with other hatcheries.
- Management of Employee timecards and working schedules.
- Evaluate employee performance, take any disciplinary action needed.
- Establish and execute hatchery programs, procedures and safety standards.
- Sanitation and equipment operation.
- Inovo Injection.
- Test and develop more efficient techniques and processes.
- Ensure all vaccination equipment is operating correctly.
- Attend Department Meetings.
- Responsible for annual payroll up to $1,850,000
- Manage up to $350,000 annual supply cost
- Have working relationships with:
- Hatchery Management, Department Lead Persons and TEAM members
- Scheduling Department and Truck Shop
- Breeder Management and Grow-out Management.
- Personnel Department and Accounting Personnel.
- Health Service and medical Services.
- Outside Vendors/Contractors and egg hauling companies.
- Chemistry Lab/Microbiology Lab.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS in Poultry Science, Engineering, or Business; or equivalent work experience, preferably in the poultry industry.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to understand, follow and enforce all Company and Department policies and procedures including safety, productivity standards, wage and hour laws and bio-security.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Must be highly goal and results oriented. Have the ability to effectively execute tasks and exercise sound judgment and critical thinking in changing and demanding work environment.
- Self-motivated and directed with minimal supervision.
- Must poses basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word Programs.
- Must be detailed oriented. Have strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.
- Ability to operate automation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to work weekend and graveyard shifts.
