Streets Maintenance Worker I (Full-time; Non-Exempt)
Department: Public Works – Streets Division
Job Summary:
The Streets Maintenance Worker is responsible for a variety of routine and semi-skilled activities in the construction and maintenance of city street and drainage infrastructure. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Streets Division Supervisor and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
Salary:
$17.38 - $21.72 per hour; depending on qualifications and experience

Schedule:
- Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Share “On-Call” responsibility for emergency call-out situations
- Respond to customer complaints regarding street and drainage conditions; evaluate findings and notify Street Superintendent or Supervisor
- Perform required labor involved in:
- Pavement repair and patching
- Sidewalk maintenance and repair
- Sign inventory; replacement; and maintenance
- Small construction projects
- Drive trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading; hauling and unloading of various equipment; pipe; gravel; dirt and sand
- Share “On-Call” responsibility for emergency call-out situations
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent
- Valid drivers’ license with a good driving record; and “Class A” CDL certification or the ability to obtain CDL certification within six months of hire
- One year construction related experience preferred
- Must be respirator/self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) certifiable
Work will be performed mostly outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The work environment may include exposure to drafts; noise; dust; grease; and traffic.
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in medium work; typically involving some combination of balancing; climbing; crawling; crouching; feeling; handling; hearing; kneeling; mental acuity; reaching; repetitive motion; speaking; standing; talking; visual acuity; walking and which involves some lifting/moving; carrying; pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds).
