Dedrick Tool & Die is a 40+ year, ISO 9001:2015 certified CNC machine shop in Bluffton, Indiana. We specialize in precision machining, custom tooling, and emergency repairs for food manufacturers and industrial clients. POSITION DETAILS
Location: Bluffton, Indiana
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (weekends off!)
Reports To: Owner (Deb)
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This is a hands-on role supporting the Plant Manager in our ISO certified job shop. You'll manage critical business functions and work alongside our experienced team during training.
Material Management & Purchasing
- Order materials and supplies from vendors
- Build and maintain vendor relationships
- Negotiate pricing and terms
- Track material costs and manage budgets
Receiving & Inventory Control
- Receive and verify incoming materials
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Conduct regular inventory counts
- Organize material storage areas
Shipping & Logistics
- Coordinate shipments with carriers
- Prepare shipping documentation
- Track deliveries and ensure on-time shipment
- Handle customer pickup coordination
Customer Communication & Care
- Serve as the key point of contact for customer inquiries
- Provide order status updates
- Build strong customer relationships
- Address concerns promptly and professionally
ISO 9001:2015 Compliance
- Maintain ISO documentation and quality records
- Update procedures and work instructions
Administrative Support
- Front office support and phone/email management
- Maintain filing systems and records
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
✓ Manufacturing background - Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment REQUIRED
✓ Strong organizational skills - Manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
✓ Excellent communication skills - Written and verbal, with customers and team
✓ Vendor management experience - Supplier relationships and purchasing
✓ Quality-focused mindset - Commitment to accuracy and compliance
✓ Computer proficiency - Comfortable learning new software systems
✓ Customer service orientation - Professional and solution-focused
✓ Hands-on approach - This is an active machine shop environment
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- ISO 9001 or quality management system knowledge
- Machine shop or precision manufacturing experience
- ERP/MRP systems (Job Boss is a plus)
- Shipping and logistics background
- Inventory management experience
- Understanding of manufacturing materials

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand, walk, and move around the facility as needed
- Occasional lifting up to 25-30 pounds
- Comfortable in a manufacturing environment with machine noise
- Work on computer for extended periods
