Job Summary:
The CNC Wireform Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC wire forming machines to produce high-precision wireforms, springs, and stamped components for a variety of industrial applications. This role ensures production runs meet all quality, safety, and efficiency standards while working from blueprints, process sheets, and work instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation & Setup
Set up and operate CNC wire forming machines (e.g., Bihler, NUMALLIANCE, Itaya, or similar).
Load correct wire material (stainless steel, carbon steel, music wire, etc.) according to job specifications.
Perform machine changeovers and adjustments for different product runs.
Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to check part dimensions.
Monitor machines during operation to ensure part consistency and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
Production & Quality Control
Manufacture springs, wireforms, and stamped components to tight tolerances as specified in engineering drawings and work orders.
Conduct in-process and final part inspections to ensure compliance with dimensional and cosmetic specifications.
Identify and correct quality defects or escalate issues to QA or Engineering.
Record production data, including quantities produced, scrap, and downtime.
Maintenance & Safety
Perform daily preventative maintenance and basic mechanical repairs on wireform machines.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S and safety standards.
Follow all company safety policies and use appropriate PPE.
Documentation & Reporting
Read and interpret blueprints, control plans, and job travelers.
Accurately complete production logs, inspection sheets, and non-conformance reports.
Communicate with shift supervisors and other team members to ensure smooth shift transitions.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
2+ years of experience operating CNC wireforming machines in a manufacturing environment (spring or stamping industry preferred).
Experience with mechanical drawings and part tolerances.
Familiarity with manufacturing of compression, extension, torsion springs, and custom wireforms is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production issues.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurement tools.
Basic math and computer skills (Excel, ERP systems a plus).
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
