Medical Mutts Service Dogs is seeking a passionate, organized, and relationship-driven Development & Partnerships Manager to help grow and strengthen our nonprofit organization. This role is ideal for someone excited to build systems, develop partnerships, support fundraising efforts, and help expand the impact of an organization transforming rescue dogs into life-changing service dogs.
Medical Mutts rescues dogs from shelters and trains them as service dogs for individuals with disabilities, including medical alert, psychiatric, autism, and hearing support dogs. We are a growing organization with a highly mission-driven team and a collaborative work environment.
Position Overview
The Development & Partnerships Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Founder to support fundraising, donor relations, sponsorships, grants, events, and development operations. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role with significant opportunity for creativity, leadership, and professional growth as the organization continues to expand.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, highly organized, and excited to help build long-term sustainability for a growing nonprofit.
Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Development
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
- Support donor stewardship and follow-up communications
- Assist with recurring giving and donor retention efforts
- Help identify and cultivate new fundraising opportunities
Partnerships & Community Engagement
- Help expand Medical Mutts’ presence and partnerships throughout the Indianapolis community
- Assist with sponsorship outreach and corporate partnerships
- Represent Medical Mutts at community events and networking opportunities
- Support board and leadership relationship-building efforts
Grants & Development Operations
- Assist with grant research, writing, reporting, and tracking
- Coordinate grant calendars and submission deadlines
- Maintain donor records and development tracking systems
- Help manage CRM and fundraising databases
- Support fundraising reporting and organizational development systems
Events & Communications
- Assist with planning and coordinating fundraising events and campaigns
- Support silent auctions, sponsorship fulfillment, and event logistics
- Help coordinate newsletters, fundraising communications, and donor materials
- Collaborate with leadership on presentations, campaigns, and outreach efforts
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable building relationships and engaging with donors and community partners
- Experience in fundraising, nonprofit work, communications, marketing, event planning, or related fields preferred
- Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, or fundraising tracking tools preferred
- Grant writing experience is a plus but not required
- Existing connections within the Indianapolis nonprofit, business, or philanthropic community are a plus
- Passion for animal welfare and disability support services strongly preferred
Compensation
- Starting salary: approximately $50,000 based on experience
- Opportunity for growth into a Director-level role as the organization expands
