About Magnet Baron
Magnet Baron sells neodymium super magnets to hobbyists and engineers alike. From custom magnetization kits to custom magnetization tools, we create and ship a wide range of unique, quality magnetic products from our Fort Worth warehouse in the Alliance area.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Warehouse Manager to run our daily fulfillment operation. You'll lead a small pick/pack/kitting team of 2 to 3, own our inventory from purchase order to customer doorstep, and keep orders shipping accurately and on time every day.
You'll work directly with the owner, who has run Magnet Baron for 13 years, with no corporate layers and no committees. That means real responsibility and real impact: decisions get made in a conversation, not a meeting chain, and the improvements you make show up in the business right away. We expect you to run the operation and make it better. Finding faster, more accurate, more efficient ways to work is part of the job.
This is a working manager role. On any given day you might place purchase orders in the morning, jump on a pack station to help clear the queue at lunch, and repair pack-station equipment in the afternoon. If you like owning the whole operation instead of one slice of it, this job is for you.
What You'll Do
Inventory & Purchasing
- Own reorder purchasing for existing products: monitor stock levels and sales velocity, set reorder points, place reorder POs with vendors, and track inbound shipments
- Receive inbound freight, verify counts against packing slips, and file vendor discrepancy or damage claims
- Run cycle counts and periodic physical inventories, keep system stock levels accurate, and investigate shrink or mis-picks
- Manage bin locations and warehouse layout so fast-movers stay close to pack stations
New Product Launches
- Place first-time purchase orders for new products, working with the owner and vendors to get specs, quantities, and lead times right on items we have never stocked before
- Handle final launch preparation for each new product: assign its storage and pick location, build the kitting and labeling steps, and define how it gets packed so it is ready to sell and ship the day stock lands
- Run first-article checks on new arrivals before launch and flag problems while there is still time to fix them
Quality Control
- Own day-to-day quality control on established products: inspect inbound product, catch defects before they ship, and feed quality issues back into purchasing decisions
- Process customer returns and RMAs: inspect, restock, or write off
Team Leadership
- Schedule, train, and manage a small pick/pack/kitting team, and assist with hiring as we grow
- Set daily priorities so orders ship on time, and cover any station when someone is out
- Plan ahead for seasonal peaks (staffing, hours, supplies)
Shipping & Daily Operations
- Pick, pack, and kit orders alongside the team as volume requires
- Maintain and troubleshoot warehouse equipment, including label printers, pack stations, scanners, and other gear that keeps orders moving
- Keep shipping supplies (boxes, mailers, tape, labels) stocked ahead of need
- Manage carrier pickups, resolve shipping errors, and file lost or damaged package claims
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized warehouse
- Identify and implement process improvements: better workflows, layouts, and systems that raise throughput and accuracy
- Report simple weekly numbers to ownership: orders shipped, error rate, inventory accuracy
- Other tasks as assigned. At a company our size, everyone pitches in where needed
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of warehouse experience, with at least 1 year leading or supervising a team
- Hands-on experience with inventory management and/or purchasing (reorder points, POs, vendor communication)
- A track record of improving processes, not just following them. You should have examples of things you made faster, cheaper, or more accurate
- Comfortable with computers: shipping/e-commerce software (Shopify, ShipStation, or similar a plus) and basic spreadsheets
- Mechanically inclined, able to maintain and troubleshoot warehouse equipment
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet most of the day
- Self-directed with an owner's mentality: you see what needs doing and do it without being told
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and calm when the order queue is deep
Nice to have: e-commerce fulfillment background, experience at a small business, forklift/pallet jack experience, bilingual English/Spanish
Important safety note, please read before applying
Our warehouse contains a high density of small, powerful neodymium magnets. These magnets can interfere with implanted medical devices. If you have a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator (ICD), insulin pump, cochlear implant, deep brain stimulator, or any other active implanted medical device, this workplace is not safe for you and we are not able to hire for this role. We mention this up front out of respect for your safety and your time.
Why Work at Magnet Baron
- Responsibility and impact: you run the warehouse, not a shift, and your improvements show up in the business the same week
- Work directly with the owner, 13 years running this company, and you'll be their right hand on operations
- Unique products: neodymium super magnets for hobbyists and engineers, not another commodity warehouse
- Small team where your work is visible and your ideas get implemented
- Air-conditioned warehouse, rare in Texas, and we mean it
- Healthcare available, PTO and sick time, stable Monday to Friday daytime schedule
- Growing company with room to grow your role as we scale
Benefits: Healthcare available, 5 PTO days + 5 sick days per year, paid holidays, air-conditioned warehouse
Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift (occasional flexibility during peak season)
Pay: $58,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
Application Question(s):
- What is the longest job you have held continuously? How long, what did you do, and why did you leave?
- Math check: Each kit uses 7 magnets, and magnets arrive in packs of 25. Your team of 3 needs to build 240 kits today, but one person is out. How many full packs must be opened, and about how many kits does each remaining person need to build? Type your two numbers.
- Describe one specific process you made faster, cheaper, or more accurate. What was it like before, what did you change, and what was the measurable result?
- Have you personally set reorder points and placed purchase orders with vendors? If yes, describe the system or software you used and roughly how many SKUs you managed.
- This role is Monday through Friday, day shift, in person in Fort Worth (76177). Do you have any standing commitments (school, second job, custody schedule, recurring medical) that would affect attendance during those hours? If yes, please describe.
Experience:
- warehouse: 3 years (Required)
- supervising a warehouse or fulfillment team: 1 year (Required)
Work Location: In person
