Metcon, Inc. is seeking an exceptional Senior Preconstruction Manager – MEP to join our growing team in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This is not your typical preconstruction role.

Your Impact
As the Senior Preconstruction Manager – MEP, you will lead all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage preconstruction efforts while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams.
You will drive budgeting strategy, lead value engineering efforts, oversee trade partner engagement, and ensure every project begins with a solid foundation for success.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Preconstruction Leadership
- Lead MEP preconstruction efforts for complex commercial projects from concept through GMP development.
- Serve as the primary MEP advisor during planning, design, and procurement phases.
- Mentor and develop preconstruction team members while promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Partner closely with owners, architects, consultants, and operations teams to align project goals, budgets, and schedules.
Estimating & Cost Management
- Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and GMP pricing for sophisticated commercial projects.
- Analyze design documents and identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, subcontractor evaluations, bid leveling, and final pricing recommendations.
- Assess project risk and develop mitigation strategies to maximize project success.
Entertainment, Gaming & Hospitality Expertise
- Lead preconstruction planning for hospitality, casino, gaming, resort, entertainment, and destination-based developments.
- Understand the unique MEP demands associated with gaming floors, hotels, restaurants, convention spaces, entertainment venues, and guest-focused facilities.
- Collaborate with ownership groups and design teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences through innovative building systems and infrastructure solutions.
Trade Partner & Subcontractor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships within the MEP trade community.
- Lead subcontractor prequalification, solicitation, scope alignment, and procurement strategies.
- Ensure complete, competitive, and coordinated MEP coverage throughout the preconstruction process.
Scheduling & Constructability
- Develop preconstruction schedules that incorporate design milestones, permitting requirements, procurement timelines, long-lead equipment, and MEP coordination activities.
- Work closely with operations and field teams to identify constructability challenges and opportunities early in the process.
Client Leadership
- Serve as a client-facing representative of Metcon throughout the preconstruction phase.
- Participate in project pursuits, interviews, presentations, and business development efforts.
- Facilitate seamless transitions from preconstruction to operations, ensuring teams are positioned for successful project execution.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of commercial construction preconstruction, estimating, or MEP management experience.
- Proven experience leading MEP preconstruction efforts on large-scale commercial projects.
- Experience managing complex entertainment, gaming, hospitality, resort, hotel, casino, or destination-development projects.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems integration, constructability, and cost management.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
Preferred
- Design-Build project experience.
- Experience with integrated project delivery methods.
- Existing relationships within the hospitality and gaming construction market.
- Experience supporting large-scale projects exceeding $50M.
