Position Summary
The Athletic Director oversees all aspects of the school's after-school athletics program for Grades 4–8.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and grow the after-school athletics program.
- Coach assigned sports teams throughout the school year.
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate coaches.
- Coordinate practice and game schedules.
- Collaborate and communicate with league officials.
- Schedule game officials and manage home athletic events.
- Develop seasonal athletic offerings and student participation.
- Manage athletic equipment, facilities, and budgets.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, coaches, and administration.
- Teach two Physical Education Classes daily.
- Supervise students during lunch and recess.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and positive character.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for every student-athlete.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to continually strengthen the athletics program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Education, Sports Management, or Kinesiology preferred, but not strictly required.
- Four or more years of successful coaching experience at the middle school, high school, collegiate, or club level.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through coaching, program coordination, committee leadership, or similar responsibilities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Commitment to student development, character education, and sportsmanship.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Successful completion of all required employment background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising coaches or athletic programs.
- Experience planning tournaments or athletic events.
- Experience managing equipment or athletic budgets.
- Teaching experience or independent school experience.
- Interest in long-term athletic program development.
Schedule
- Full-time, exempt position
- Monday–Friday during the school year
- Regular after-school practices and athletic contests
- Occasional evenings and weekends for school events, tournaments, Open Houses, and community activities
