Housing Compliance & Inspection Specialist
Position Summary
The Housing Compliance & Inspection Specialist plays a critical role in protecting the integrity and success of affordable housing programs. This position ensures that housing developments remain compliant with federal and state regulations, directly supporting safe, high-quality housing for communities.
This is a unique opportunity to build expertise in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, a specialized and highly valued regulatory field. Prior LIHTC experience is not required. We are looking for the right mindset, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to excellence. Comprehensive training will be provided to help you develop into a subject matter expert.

Job Specifications
As the Housing Compliance & Inspection Specialist, you will support NIFA’s mission by ensuring LIHTC program compliance and advancing departmental goals.
- Review, audit, and analyze LIHTC documentation, tenant files, inspection results, and annual compliance reports for regulatory accuracy.
- Schedule, conduct, and process on-site physical inspections, coordinating with inspection software vendors as needed. This involves regular travel throughout Nebraska during the months of April through October.
- Maintain current knowledge of LIHTC guidelines and best practices to proactively identify and address compliance issues.
- Partner with owners and property managers to resolve findings and respond to compliance-related questions.
- Prepare clear reports, maintain complete records, and communicate professionally with stakeholders, tenants, and internal teams.
- Direct tenants to available resources and support positive housing outcomes.
- Assist the LIHTC Compliance Manager or Assistant Compliance Manager with special projects and other assigned duties, while responding promptly to calls and emails.

Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following experience or knowledge is a plus:
- Some knowledge of LIHTC compliance.
- NSPIRE training.
