Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Heavy Haul Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating specialized heavy-duty trucks and trailers to transport oversized, overweight, or complex cargo across various routes. Your expertise in handling diverse freight types—including 8 to 10 axle setups—will ensure timely and secure deliveries. Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped for heavy haul, including machinery, 4 axle truck, 4 axle trailer, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Plan and execute efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips, addressing maintenance needs promptly to maintain safety standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, logs, inspection reports, and compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or issues encountered during transit
Qualifications
- 1 year of open deck experience
- Demonstrated ability to operate 18 speed manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, permits, and safety standards for transporting dangerous goods.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures for different freight types.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to heavy haul operations, doubles and triples.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and effectively in loading/unloading scenarios
- Excellent navigation skills utilizing GPS systems for route planning and adjustments
