Who are we hiring?
The Assistant Equipment Intern plays a vital, hands-on role within the Kansas City Current soccer operations staff. Reporting directly to the Head of Equipment, this individual works alongside the First Team equipment staff to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and operational efficiency. While this position primarily supports the daily training, match day, and logistical needs of the First Team, it is built with a dual-focused pathway to provide essential operational coverage for Kansas City Current II, and Teal Rising Alliance initiatives when required.
This role is fundamental to maximizing player and technical staff performance by ensuring training sessions run seamlessly on the pitch, managing logistics, and proactively anticipating club needs.
What will you do?

Maintain Gear: Launder, sort, repair, and distribute daily training and match gear for First Team players and staff.

Maintain Equipment: Clean, organize, store, and retrieve all field equipment for daily training sessions and matches.

Training Logistics: Work closely with equipment staff to set up fields and ensure training sessions run with maximum efficiency to accomplish coaching goals.

Attention to Detail: Develop familiarity and confidence with player-specific gear preferences, including boot and goalkeeper glove maintenance techniques.

Match Day: Primarily assist with home matches and occasionally support away match-day operations, including gear transportation to the stadium, comprehensive locker room and bench setup, and post-match breakdown.

Travel Logistics: Help prepare, organize, pack, and transport team gear and equipment for offsite training, home matches, and away travel.

Assist in executing high level travel procedures to guarantee a seamless, professional experience for players and support staff.

Provide operational, equipment, and logistical support to KCCII, Teal Rising Academy, Summer Development Programs, Talent ID, TRA-Brazil, and all other club initiatives.

Perform all other tasks as assigned.
Time Commitment Expectations

Willingness and flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on the team's training and match schedules.

Ability to travel out of state or country for consecutive days for matches and training camps.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically capable of lifting more than 50 pounds above your head, able to carry heavy loads, and run in short sprints and over distances on the pitch during training sessions.
Experience
Required

A valid Driver’s License and mode of transportation is required.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Direct experience either playing or working within a semi-professional, professional, or elite college environment.

A strong, foundational familiarity with soccer.

Must be willing to relocate to the Kansas City area.
Preferred:
-
Earned or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Exercise Science, Business or a related field.

Prior experience working within equipment management or team operations in professional, second-division, or elite collegiate athletics.
Special requirements of the Job:

Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.

Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.

Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.

Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.

Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
