Position Summary:
The Shipping Specialist supports material handling, inventory control, and shipping activities in a commercial nuclear industry environment. This role is responsible for receiving, tracking, preparing, and shipping materials and parts while adhering to strict nuclear safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Accuracy, procedural compliance, and a strong safety culture are essential, as the position supports operations governed by NRC regulations, INPO standards, and site-specific procedures.
Required Experience for Shipping Specialist:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Clean legal background with no outstanding or pending legal charges.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing at time of hire and through random testing.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Must be a United States citizen.
Essential Functions for Shipping Specialist:
- Support shipping and receiving activities in compliance with commercial nuclear procedures and material control requirements.
- Coordinate with approved shipping agents and carriers, including FedEx, UPS, and other authorized logistics providers, to support outbound shipping activities.
- Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and records to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, site procedures, and quality standards.
- Communicate with vendors to request quotes and resolve material or documentation .discrepancies.
- Operate forklifts and yard truck//yard dog equipment in accordance with safety and training requirements.
- Load and offload material and sealand containers from trailers.
- Generate inventory, shipping, and material reports using Oracle and Tableau.
- Prepare shipping documentation, labels, and records to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, site procedures, and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications for Shipping Specialist:
- Prior experience working in a commercial nuclear power plant or nuclear-regulated environment.
- Familiarity with nuclear material control, quality assurance programs, and procedural compliance.
- Experience working under Radiation Protection or industrial safety controls.
Physical Demands for Shipping Specialist:
- Ability to work in elevated or heightened environments.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, climb, and reach as required for job duties.
- Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to work in radiation-controlled areas in accordance with site requirements.
