Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and fabrication tasks related to plant equipment and facility systems. This role is critical to ensuring plant equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while supporting overall plant operations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plant equipment and facility systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and systems
- Perform corrective and emergency maintenance repairs as needed
- Conduct inspections and operational testing of plant equipment
- Complete welding and fabrication work in support of equipment repair and maintenance
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and related documentation
- Promote and maintain a high standard of workplace safety
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment used in maintenance operations, including:
- Mobile cranes
- Overhead cranes
- Forklifts
- Loaders
- Other related equipment
- Maintain maintenance tools and equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition
- Operate and maintain machine shop equipment
- Respond to after-hours call-ins and emergency situations as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or trade school equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair within a power plant, industrial facility, or similar environment
- Experience with mechanical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and preventive maintenance programs preferred
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and maintenance machinery
- Valid Maine Class C Driver’s License required
- Must be insurable under ecomaine’s vehicle insurance policy

Work Environment
This position requires working in an industrial plant environment and may involve exposure to heat, noise, moving mechanical equipment, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions. The ability to respond to emergency call-ins and work occasional overtime is required.
