Unity Pharmacy is seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Pharmacy Technician to support the daily operations of our closed-door long-term care pharmacy. This position will coordinate technician workflow, assist with medication preparation and packaging, and help ensure accurate and timely medication services for long-term care facilities and their residents.
The ideal candidate has strong pharmacy technician experience, excellent attention to detail, leadership ability, and hands-on experience with medication packing and FrameworkLTC pharmacy software.

- No regular evening or weekend schedule
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily pharmacy technician workflow and assignments.
- Prepare, fill, package, and label medication orders under pharmacist supervision.
- Perform medication packing, including blister and compliance packaging.
- Operate and utilize FrameworkLTC software for prescription processing, medication orders, refills, cycle fills, documentation, and facility-specific requests.
- Review technician work for completeness and accuracy before pharmacist verification.
- Process new orders, refill requests, STAT orders, cycle fills, and medication changes.
- Communicate with pharmacists, nurses, facility staff, and other members of the pharmacy team.
- Assist with medication delivery preparation and timely resolution of missing or urgent medications.
- Train, coach, and support pharmacy technicians while promoting accuracy and teamwork.
- Monitor inventory, restock medications and supplies, and assist with expired medication management.
- Follow procedures for controlled substances, medication returns, discrepancies, and required documentation.
- Identify workflow issues and assist with improving efficiency and reducing medication errors.
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy policies, long-term care requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist-in-charge or pharmacy management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous pharmacy technician experience required.
- Experience in a closed-door, long-term care, mail-order, or institutional pharmacy preferred.
- Previous experience with medication packing and compliance packaging required or strongly preferred.
- Experience using FrameworkLTC pharmacy software strongly preferred.
- Previous lead technician, senior technician, or pharmacy workflow coordination experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication accuracy and patient safety.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- PTCB certification preferred, if applicable.
- Current Connecticut pharmacy technician registration required, as applicable.
