Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Banquet Cook to join our culinary team. This position is responsible for the preparation and production of high-quality food for banquet functions, including weddings, conferences, and other special events. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of large-scale food production, excellent time management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook high-volume meals for banquet and catering events according to standardized recipes and guest specifications.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented in a timely and appealing manner.
- Collaborate with the Banquet Chef and kitchen team to plan menus, prep lists, and timelines for each event.
- Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards in compliance with local health department regulations.
- Set up and break down cooking stations and equipment before and after events.
- Assist with inventory control, including rotation, labeling, and storage of food items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment and workstations.
- Work efficiently to meet event timelines and adjust quickly to changing needs.
- Monitor food quality during production and service, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are met.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, sanitation, and conduct.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; culinary degree or certification preferred.
- 2+ years of professional cooking experience, preferably in banquets or high-volume food production.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with diverse cuisines and dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan).
- ServSafe or Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to lead or assist in training junior kitchen staff as needed.
Pay: From $30,420.00 per year
