$29hr to $33hr depending on experience.
A manufacturing company equipped with advanced machinery and innovative technology, specializing in the formulation and production of a wide range of skincare products, including creams, lotions, serums, and masks is seeking a Manufacturing Cost Estimator to join their team in Chatsworth.
Summary: The Manufacturing Cost Estimator develops and maintains accurate cost models for materials, labor, and overhead to support product quoting, pricing, and profitability analysis. This role partners cross-functionally with procurement, R&D, engineering, and manufacturing to evaluate production costs, analyze variances, and provide insights that support informed business decisions and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities:
Cost Estimating
- Quote Preparation: Calculate the total estimated cost of developing, manufacturing, or redesigning products to assist business development in pricing.
- Data Synthesis: Analyze historical data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and routing specifications to forecast future production expenses.
- Risk & Margin Analysis: Assess production risks and incorporate appropriate financial margins into estimates.
- Vendor & Supply Chain Collaboration: Consult with purchasing & R&D departments to secure accurate pricing for outsourced components and raw materials.
Cost Accounting
- Standard Costing: Develop, maintain, and roll standard and actual costs for raw materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and finished goods.
- Variance Analysis: Identify and analyze the root causes of variances between standard and actual production costs (e.g., labor efficiency, material price, overhead).
Cross-Functional & Decision Support
- Profitability Analysis: Provide ongoing margin analyses by customer, product line, and manufacturing job to drive cost-efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing personnel to evaluate the cost impacts of design changes, alternative materials, improve quoted lead times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cost Accounting, Business Management, or Accounting or 1-3 year of experience in a Cost Estimating role.
- Experience in a manufacturing company required. (cosmetic industry highly preferred)
- Experience with ERP systems.
Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
