The Plumbing Drain Technician is responsible for restoring flow as assigned within plumbing code specifications while ensuring the highest quality client experience. The Drain Technician will use their technical knowledge to diagnose, clean and repair drain systems in residential and light commercial environments. This role requires exceptional customer service and sales skills, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to excellence.
Role: Drain Technician
Compensation: Hourly for PTO training and Holiday - $30.00
Commission-based – 10% of invoice total for sales, 13% of invoice total for repairs/installations
Average yearly: $80,000-$100,000
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with occasional early mornings, late evenings and weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all drain cleaning, jetting, and cable work related to residential and light commercial service calls.
- Identify potential problems to prevent premature and/or unexpected breakdowns/callbacks.
- Explain the features and benefits of each solution. Obtain agreement for services before performing work and collecting payment.
- Build repour and describe diagnosed problems to customers and provide solutions.
- Maintain truck inventory of parts and restock truck to minimum stock levels.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, office staff, and co-workers.
- Wear all applicable Personal Protective gear while operating in a safe manner.
- Participation in required staff meetings and training.
- Provide Camera service for mainline stoppages as needed.
Required Experience:
- 2 or more years of drain sales experience
- 2 or more years’ experience using hydro jets, electric snakes, and/or sewer cameras
Preferred Experience:
- Basic knowledge/use of industry standard software (I.E Service Titan, or other related systems)
