Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a vital member of the nursing leadership team, partnering with the Director of Nursing to oversee the daily operations of the Nursing Department. This role provides clinical leadership, supports and mentors nursing staff, promotes regulatory compliance, and helps ensure exceptional, resident-centered care throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is a compassionate leader with strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Nursing in managing the daily operations of the Nursing Department.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants.
- Help ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
- Monitor resident care to ensure quality standards and person-centered care are consistently maintained.
- Participate in staff education, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Assist with scheduling and staffing to ensure appropriate nursing coverage.
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families to coordinate quality care.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Assist with infection prevention, risk management, and survey preparedness.
- Investigate and follow up on resident concerns, incidents, and clinical issues.
- Serve as the Director of Nursing in their absence when needed.
Qualifications:
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Previous leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and nursing standards.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, and staff.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional resident-centered care.
