Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card payments, and mobile payments.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions about products, and assisting with product demos when needed.
- Manage cash drawer handling with precision, ensuring proper cash balancing at the start and end of each shift.
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and assist with merchandising efforts to create an inviting shopping environment.
- Maintain phone etiquette when answering customer inquiries via phone or in person, ensuring clear communication at all times.
- Support inventory management by assisting with stocking, inventory counts, and product placement to optimize store presentation.
- Supervise or assist in supervising team members during busy periods, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer interactions.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred; familiarity with grocery store operations is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems, cash register operations, and retail math for accurate transactions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear information about products and services; bilingual abilities are advantageous.
- Demonstrated cashiering skills including cash drawer handling, basic math proficiency, and cash handling accuracy.
- Experience in supervising or leading team members is desirable but not required; leadership qualities are a bonus.
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and upselling strategies to enhance sales performance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and positive attitude.
