Position Summary
The Sales Development Representative supports the DMS sales team by generating leads, researching opportunities, managing prospecting activities, and assisting senior sales representatives throughout the sales process.
This role is designed to expand the company’s sales capacity by allowing senior salespeople to focus on relationship building, estimating coordination, proposal development, and closing opportunities.
The SDR serves as the front end of the sales process and is responsible for identifying potential opportunities, initiating contact, gathering information, maintaining sales activity records, and supporting business development efforts across all DMS service lines.
This position is intended to be a developmental role that prepares high performing individuals for future Outside Sales Representative positions.

Primary Responsibilities
Lead Generation and Prospect Research
- Identify prospective customers within target industries and markets.
- Research facility owners, property managers, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and maintenance personnel.
- Build and maintain prospect lists.
- Monitor bid boards and identify opportunities that align with DMS capabilities.
- Gather information on projects, facility expansions, maintenance contracts, and capital improvement plans.
Business Development Support
- Conduct outbound prospecting through phone calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, and networking activities.
- Schedule meetings for senior sales representatives.
- Qualify leads using DMS established criteria.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with existing customers.
- Attend sales meetings and customer visits as assigned.
- Support trade shows, networking events, and industry association activities.
Sales Administration
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and prospect interactions.
- Track opportunities through the sales pipeline.
- Prepare prospecting reports and activity summaries.
- Assist with proposal preparation and information gathering.
- Coordinate follow up activities after meetings and presentations.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
- Identify new target markets and business opportunities.
- Gather information regarding customer needs, upcoming projects, and service requirements.
- Report market intelligence to sales leadership.
Field Support
- Accompany senior sales representatives on customer visits when appropriate.
- Assist with site visits, customer information gathering, and documentation.
- Learn DMS service offerings, capabilities, and target industries.
- Develop a working understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, special projects, and industrial services.

Preferred
- Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, industrial services, facilities maintenance, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Prior sales, customer service, recruiting, or business development experience.
- Experience with CRM systems and sales tracking tools.
