Obtains Medical Center's request and establishes daily schedule; boards examinations; notifies out-patient and front office.
Determines order of patient examination; gives preparation directions; transports patients to and from Ultrasound room.
Obtains necessary information from patients; obtains other information from various sources. Documents patient training/education in computer systems.
Prepares patients for examination of abdominal, chest, pelvic, renal, and other areas as requested by physician; explains examination to patient.
Labels each image with patient information and records diagnosis on patient's images. Confirms delivery to PACS system.
Reports diagnosis to physicians verbally or on chart; records any further preparation or rescheduling.
Instructs physicians and students as to basic knowledge, techniques, and/or planning procedures of ultrasound.
Communicates preliminary impression to referring physician in absence of Radiologist.
Cleans equipment and ultrasound room daily; stocks room with linen and materials daily; sets up unit; orders supplies.
Performs more complex ultrasound examinations.
Checks equipment for malfunctioning and periodically calibrates equipment; requests service when necessary.
Demonstrates effective judgement and ability to understand, react competently, and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of patient age groups served.
- Performs other related duties as required. Utilizes new improvements and/or technology that relate to job assignment.
