Overview
The Staff Registered Nurse is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care in the emergency care setting, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Staff Registered Nurse provides patient care for all ages in compliance with policies/procedures and the standards of professional nursing practice as defined by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. In the staff nurse's professional practice, he/she is responsible for maintaining quality, cost-effectiveness, and superior patient relations.
Duties
- Ability to perform head-to-toe assessments and psych-social assessments on all patients and perform reassessments as per departmental policy.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient interactions and registration in the EHR system.
- Follow up on all send-out lab specimens with accurate documentation and physician notification.
- Documents accurately on the perpetual narcotic inventory form and reports any discrepancies to the Nurse Manager.
- Run lab equipment QC daily or every 30 days as the manufacturer indicates per instrument.
- Responsible for delegating appropriately to Rad Tech and EMT paramedic.
- Monitors supply every shift and reports shortages when noted.
- Accurately documents any incident report to Nurse Manager and Physician on duty.
- Uses bio-hazard containers correctly.
- Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other departments in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
Requirements/Experience:
- Two years of Emergency Room or Critical Care experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
- Current Texas Licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners
- Current BLS/CPR certification for Healthcare providers
- Current ACLS certification
- PALS or ENPC with six (6) months of employment.
- TNCC desired.
- Educational requirements appropriate for meeting the age-specific needs of patients presenting to the emergency center, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, as well as emergency procedures required for stabilization of patients of all ages.
- Validate clinical skills as outlined in the orientation checklist and maintain them for annual clinical competency.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43.00 - $47.00 per hour
