Tails On Trails LLC is hiring two dependable part-time pet care professionals to provide dog-walking and cat-sitting visits in Downtown Jersey City.
Applicants must have consistent Monday–Friday availability within our 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. service window. You will not necessarily work the entire window each day. Visits are assigned within that timeframe according to client needs, location, your agreed availability, and the schedule you are hired to support.
We are currently seeking candidates interested in approximately 10–30 hours per week. Some availability on weekends, holidays, and holiday weekends is also needed.

Established in 2012, Tails On Trails LLC is a professional pet-care company serving Downtown Jersey City. Our clients use our services regularly, allowing team members to establish dependable routines and build trusted relationships with the pets in their care.

Dog-Walking Responsibilities
- Provide safe, structured, and engaging dog walks
- Follow each dog’s individual care and safety instructions
- Properly fit and handle different harnesses, collars, and leashes
- Check food, provide feeding when required, and refresh water
- Monitor pet equipment for damage, wear, or safety concerns
- Provide timely visit updates and clear photographs
- Keep clients’ homes clean, safe, and properly secured
- Follow all Tails On Trails safety procedures
Cat-Sitting Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled cat-care visits
- Follow detailed feeding, medication, and care instructions
- Refresh food and water
- Clean litter boxes, bowls, and surrounding pet areas
- Provide gentle, attentive care based on each cat’s personality
- Provide detailed visit updates and clear photographs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful home environment
- Confirm that the client’s home is properly secured after every visit

- Is active and comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
- Follows detailed written instructions and safety procedures
- Is receptive to training, feedback, and continued learning
- Can manage a changing route and arrive on time for scheduled visits
- Is interested in dependable, ongoing work
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have consistent Monday–Friday availability within the 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. service window
- Must live within approximately 15–30 minutes of Downtown Jersey City
- Must be able to commute reliably between client homes
- Must be comfortable caring for dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, personalities, and temperaments
- Professional pet-care experience is preferred but not required
- Relevant caregiving experience, such as childcare, daycare, teaching, elder care, or similar work, is strongly valued
- Strong communication, customer-service, and time-management skills
- Smartphone with reliable email access and a dependable data plan
- Prepared to work outdoors in heat, rain, cold, and snow
- Able to provide professional references
- Able to complete all required employment or contractor documentation
- Ready to begin paid training and working as soon as possible
- Some availability on weekends, holidays, and holiday weekends
Preferred but Not Required
- Valid driver’s license
- Access to a dependable car
- Previous professional experience caring for dogs or cats
- Previous professional caregiving experience
Compensation and Training
Expected earnings are approximately $200–$400 per week, depending on completed visits, availability, client demand, and the assigned schedule.
Weekly earnings may begin toward the lower end while a recurring schedule is being developed and may increase as additional visits are assigned.
All required training is paid.
