A warm, happy family in Westport, CT is seeking a full time live-in nanny/family assistant to support them with their three daughters, ages 5, 3, and 1. This is a wonderful position for a positive, joyful, flexible nanny who enjoys being part of a household team and caring for young children with warmth and joy. Walks on the beach collecting shells, art projects (and clean up!), hair braiding sessions (they will try to brain yours, too!) and pitching in with preparing healthy snacks/meals plus keeping the home organized and clean are all part of this role. This family's home is a vibrant, lively and fun environment, with true teamwork among the family and multiple staff members. Mom and Dad treat their staff like family, and they receive so much love and dedication in return.
The family has other household staff who speak Spanish, so the nanny must speak Spanish and must also speak conversational English. ( does not need to be grammatically perfect or native level spoken English, but should be able to understand well and communicate enough to be understood). The right candidate must also be a confident, experienced driver.
Schedule
The position is Monday–Friday, with flexibility required. The family will guarantee and pay you for 50 hours per week, even during weeks when fewer hours are needed, which will occur as work demands vary. The family is looking for someone who is comfortable with some flexibility in the schedule, while having the security or guaranteed paid hours.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include providing loving, attentive care for three young girls and helping keep their daily routines running smoothly. The family has a full time, live in housekeeper, so there are only light housekeeping tasks and only related to the children.
Duties include:
- Providing warm, safe, and engaging care for the children
- Helping with morning, afternoon, and evening routines as needed
- Driving the children to and from school, activities, and appointments
- Preparing simple meals and snacks for the children
- Supporting naps, playtime, bath time, and bedtime routines
- Keeping the children’s areas neat and organized
- Children’s laundry and light child-related housekeeping
- Engaging the children in age-appropriate play, reading, and activities
- Working cooperatively with parents and other household staff
- As a Family Assistant, ready to support the family as needed day to day
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Spanish as a first language or strong Spanish language skills
- Conversational English - does not need to be grammatically perfect, simply able to communicate easily and clearly
- Strong childcare experience with toddlers and young children
- A confident and experienced driving record
- A positive, joyful, flexible personality
- A team-player attitude
- Comfort working in a staffed home
- Flexibility with schedule changes
- Strong references
Compensation
Salary is $27–$35 per hour, based on experience.
The family will guarantee 50 hours per week, regardless of whether fewer hours are needed in a given week. They will also offer additional hours some weeks, and weekend hours on occasion, for someone who wants to increase their earnings.
