Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Cashier to join our retail team! In this energetic role, you will be the friendly face that ensures smooth and efficient transactions at the checkout counter. As a Cashier, you will handle retail sales transactions, operate POS (Point of Sale) systems, and assist customers with product inquiries and demos. Your proactive approach to upselling and merchandising will contribute to our store’s success and foster customer loyalty.
Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately during retail sales transactions, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing cash drawers at shift end
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product demos when needed
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with store merchandising to create an inviting shopping environment
- Maintain phone etiquette when handling customer inquiries or coordinating store operations over the phone
- Support inventory management by assisting with stocking, product placement, and inventory counts as directed
- Ensure compliance with all cash handling procedures, retail math calculations, and safety protocols
Experience
- Previous cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment preferred; familiarity with grocery store operations is a plus
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership roles in retail settings is advantageous
- Strong communication skills in bilingual settings are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Experience with POS systems, cash register operations, and retail sales transactions required
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and basic math skills for accurate transactions
- Ability to perform cashier duties efficiently while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment
