Project SEARCH is a combined training and work experience internship program for youth with various disabilities. This program prepares the interns for competitive integrated employment within UPMC Hamot.
St. Michael's Harbour is looking to hire a driven, compassionate Skills Trainer to work within Project Search UPMC Hamot for the 25/26 school year.
Weekly Schedule: 8am - 2:30 pm Monday - Friday
School year: August - June (Potential summer opportunities) and will follow the school schedule.
Skills trainers are responsible for:
- training and problem-solving issues related to the intern
- assisting the intern in meeting the employer's expectation
- linking the intern with on-site support to comply with the fade plan during the internship and enable the intern to work independently on the job.
- developing task lists
- providing assistance in the development of Project SEARCH internship rotations
- participating in Project Search Steering Team and Employment Planning meetings
- identifying job opportunities that match interests and abilities of the interns
- identifying job accommodations and support needs
- following up on job leads
- marketing the individuals to prospective employers
- identifying and arranging on the job training needs upon placement into employment
- supporting the intern on the job once hired
Qualifications for Skills Trainers:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- At least 1 years of experience with youth and adults with disabilities or bachelor's degree in psychology, disability services, social services, business, education, or related field
- Experiences in job placement services and support are preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- PA State Criminal Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance Required prior to hire
- Complete any UPMC Hamot requirements
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
