Job Description: Arizona Project Site Safety Manager

We are seeking a full-time, long-term Site Safety Manager to support a high-tech construction project near Chandler, Arizona. The Site Safety Manager will serve as a key member of the project team, providing leadership and oversight for all site safety initiatives in a fast-paced construction environment. This position requires a dependable, self-motivated leader with a strong field presence, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the initiative to proactively identify and address safety concerns. Success in this role also requires outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with employees, trade partners, and clients at all levels.

Key Responsibilities
- Communicate, coach, and motivate employees to achieve safe performance standards
- Maintain a strong field presence, conducting regular safety audits and hazard assessments
- Assist with pre-task planning, confined space permitting, hot work permitting, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other safety programs to ensure project readiness
- Manage project deliverables
- Lead and support the team in achieving an injury- and incident-free workplace
- Identify, document, and address safety hazards or employee concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Conduct safety training in accordance with company, customer, and OSHA standards, including leadership and specialty training, and proficiency tests for equipment such as aerial lifts and forklifts
- Participate in incident investigations, identify corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned
- Facilitate the respiratory protection program, including training and annual fit testing
- Assist in protecting customer facilities through impact prevention, mitigation, and walkthroughs with supervisors
- Assess ongoing risks and hazards associated with crew activities, including those posed by other contractors
- Implement and evaluate a buddy program for new hire integration to the project and company
- Perform initial and ongoing scaffold inspections, which may require climbing and working at height
- Inspect fall protection and rigging equipment
- Review and sign off Line Breaking and De-installation scopes prior to work commencement
- Support the safety coordinator with hiring and onboarding of new employees
- Audit and assist subcontractors working on the project
- Attend owner and general contractor field meetings, participate in field walks, and collaborate with other contractor safety professionals to foster an Injury and Incident Free Culture
- Prepare crews for confined space work, including air monitoring and permitting processes
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk large project sites, climb stairs, scaffolds, and ladders
- Ability to occasionally lift industrial safety equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Willingness to climb, crawl, and work at heights as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety or a related field, or equivalent qualification
- Ten (10) or more years of construction safety experience, with at least three (3) years in a construction management role
- Preferred certifications: Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, subcontractors, and customers
