Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, across over-the-road (OTR) routes while adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries along assigned routes, adjusting plans as necessary for traffic or weather conditions.
- Load and unload freight efficiently, managing logistics cargo handling with care to prevent damage or safety hazards.
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
- Drive both manual transmission trucks and automatic vehicles, demonstrating proficiency in manual handling and truck loading/unloading procedures.
- Deliver freight to various locations, providing excellent delivery driving service while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, report maintenance needs promptly, and ensure trucks are compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Experience
- Proven commercial truck driving experience with a valid CDL A license.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation is highly desirable.
- Experience navigating GPS navigation systems for route planning and adjustments.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures including load & unload operations for freight of varying types.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT guidelines, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards related to truck driving.
- Prior experience in delivery driving along route schedules with a focus on efficiency and safety.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently; previous experience with manual handling is preferred.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols related to dangerous goods and hazardous materials transportation.
