A well established OB/GYN office is looking for a certified medical assistant. It is your opportunity to make differences in people's lives!
Here are the main responsibilities of this position:
- Ensure the validity of patient medical information through interview of the patient and documentation of medical history; validate the purpose of visit and capturing all Meaningful Use measures in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Facilitate proper patient flow through obtaining accurate vitals, rooming patients, and preparing for examination; monitor the provider’s schedule to maintain punctual meetings; make sure all patients are accounted for in the reception area.
- Assist with surgical procedures; prepare consent forms for signature, organize instruments and/or supplies; clean, dry, sterilize/autoclave instruments.
- Manage patient phone calls within your scope of practice and route the messages as needed to providers.
- Prepare specimens for transport to pathology lab; follow-up with lab diagnosis and other data.
- Supervise patient medication refills; call patients with instructions from provider as directed.
- Keep patient information confidential through safeguarding medical records and securing patient information, maintaining the patient’s privacy.
- Keep supplies ready in exam rooms through regular restocking and checking of inventory.
- Copy, scan and file all relevant patient information.
- Promote and instruct in the use of the electronic check-in process as well as patient web portal.
- Maintain responsibility for compliance with blood borne pathogen regulations; maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets for all supplies and medications.
- Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership over the completion of varied requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
