Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager reports directly to the General Manager and plays a key leadership role in the daily operation of a convenience store, retail fuel site, and Daily’s Dash food service operation. This role serves as Manager on Duty during assigned shifts and ensures operational, food safety, and guest experience standards are executed without exception.
This position requires open availability, with a primary expectation to work second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require. Most locations operate 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
Store & Leadership Operations
- Act as Manager on Duty, leading all store and food service operations during assigned shifts
- Execute the Daily’s expectations for standards, cleanliness, and service
- Greet guests and process customer transactions accurately
- Lead, coach, and support store associates across retail and food service functions
- Deliver excellent customer service and resolve guest concerns promptly
- Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of store and DASH team members
- Create and submit daily store reports; monitor performance and P&L drivers
- Assist with personnel documentation, including coaching and corrective action
- Oversee cash handling procedures and verify accounting accuracy
- Maintain site appearance standards through stocking, cleaning, and basic maintenance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local laws, and regulatory requirements
Daily’s DASH Food Service Operations
- Oversee Daily’s DASH food service execution during assigned shifts
- Ensure made-to-order food is prepared accurately, safely, and to brand standards
- Monitor food quality, freshness, holding times, and presentation
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, time & temperature logs, and cleaning procedures
- Assist with food prep, line execution, and guest orders as needed
- Ensure proper food inventory levels, rotation, labeling, and waste control
- Train and coach DASH team members on recipes, procedures, and hospitality standards
- Address food service guest concerns quickly and professionally
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all food prep, service, and storage areas

Basic Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Prior leadership experience in retail, customer service, or food service
- Food service or QSR experience preferred
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Verifiable work history
- Professional, outgoing, and guest-focused demeanor
- Strong English communication skills (read, write, speak, hear)
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and carry short distances
- Ability to stand and walk for 8+ consecutive hours
- Ability to climb ladders, reach overhead, bend, crouch, and grasp
- Ability to work briefly in extreme temperatures (freezers, outdoor conditions)
- Ability to accurately operate touchscreen systems
- Ability to accurately count U.S. currency and make change
- Basic computer proficiency, including email and Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to pass a pre-hire drug screen and background check
