Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Vocational Assessment Specialist to join our team and make a meaningful impact on individuals’ career journeys. In this role, you will conduct comprehensive vocational assessments, develop tailored employment plans, and collaborate with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and those from underserved communities. Your expertise will help unlock potential and facilitate pathways to meaningful employment through innovative workforce development strategies.
Duties
- Conduct detailed vocational assessments to evaluate skills, interests, abilities, and barriers for clients with various disabilities or challenges
- Develop individualized employment plans aligned with clients’ strengths and community resources
- Collaborate with employers, service providers, and community organizations to facilitate job placements and internships
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and training to clients on workplace skills, social interactions, and job retention strategies
- Maintain case management records, progress notes, and assessment documentation in compliance with employment & labor law regulations
- Assist in recruiting participants for workforce development programs through outreach and community engagement
- Deliver training sessions on topics such as disability awareness, social work practices, and employment readiness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling or related field; master’s degree preferred
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism in assessment or employment settings
- Knowledge of employment & labor law applicable to workforce programs and accommodations
- Strong background in case management, interviewing techniques, mentoring, and training & development
- Familiarity with addiction counseling and working with underserved communities is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and support diverse populations
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team committed to community empowerment
