Summary: The Head Women's Volleyball Coach position serves as an integral member of the athletic department including its operations and events. Provides daily oversight of their assigned collegiate athletic program. This position is responsible for the recruitment and retention of a full competitive roster. Follows all Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD), Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations in administering the program. Supports the development of student athletes. Coordinates travel, game, schedule, inventory, and maintenance of equipment.
The Athletic Administration portion of the position includes providing oversight within the Athletic Department, including but not limited to Eligibility & Compliance, Sports Information, Website Support, and Game Management. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing facilities and equipment, scheduling events and operations, ensuring safety, managing eligibility and compliance, athletic program and event staffing, and administrative support duties for the athletic department.
Job Duties:
- Provides an environment for successful recruitment and retention of student athletes.
- Supports the development of student athletes’ success in the classroom and in their respective sport.
- Coordinates travel, game schedule and game management.
- Provides for program needs within allocated budget, including inventory of all equipment and uniforms.
- Assists with maintenance of team and college equipment.
- Develops on and off campus relationships that support the success of the position. Assists with program and department fundraising.
- Ensures compliance with all IVCCD, ICCAC and NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Serves as an integral member of the athletic department including its operations and events such as providing game day management duties and driving teams to sporting events as needed for all athletic programs.
- Provide game day management duties and drive teams to sporting events as needed for all athletic programs.
- Attends IVCCD and ICCAC meetings as required. Requires working with NJCAA Letters of Intents, budgets, and purchase orders.
- Assists the Director of Athletics with the athletic departments in decision-making, problem-solving, strategic planning, assessment, and implementation to create an engaging learning environment for students.
- Manages data collection, NJCAA compliance and coordinates student athletic eligibility with the Director of Athletics. Creates and manages database for student athletic insurance and physical files. Manages student athletic injury files and works through claims with insurance agencies involving various hospitals and clinics.
- Works with sport schedules, contracts, programs, home events, and conference office. Processes requisition purchases for student engagement and athletic activities. Contacts and/or hires all sport officials, requisitions payments, notifies parties of cancellations.
- Oversees E-Club membership files; assists and helps coordinate events.
- Trains and supervises work-study and other part-time staff.
- Assists in fundraising activities & participates at major MCC events (homecoming, family day, athletic events, etc).
- Ability to recruit and maintain roster size set forth by IVCCD/MCC and the MCC Athletic Department. Communicate with prospective or current students via text, email or weekly phone calls. Gives tours of campus to prospective students. Effectively recruit/retain quality students and athletes.
- Coordinates fundraising activities to help with the costs of additional items needed for the program. Work with the MCC Athletic Department to support the mission and goals of the greater department's fundraising initiatives.
- Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.
- Works and communicates professionally with others in a timely manner. Performs in a manner which benefits student learning.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Experience in higher education working with college students in co-curricular and diversity activities preferred.
Certification and Licenses: Valid Iowa Driver’s License

- Working knowledge of computer software programs which may include Word, Excel, institutional mainframe computer software, or similar programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including proficiency in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion.
- Ability to work independently as well as be a collaborative team player in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Organizational skills, time management, relationship building and communication skills essential.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours.
Base Wage: $44,825.00 - $59,767.00 annually - actual salary will be based on experience and education.
