SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGER
Hands-on leadership. Strong operations. A team that wins together.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager who can lead the business and work alongside the team. In this role you will own daily execution, coach leaders and frontline team members, improve performance, and step into the field whenever the operation needs you.
This is not a desk-only management position, approximately 60% is field based. Our best leaders earn trust by being visible, being in a truck, lifting and removing items, supporting difficult jobs, helping the team recover when the schedule changes, and doing what is required to serve the customer.
The right person combines mature leadership and business judgment with humility, energy, and a genuine willingness to roll up their sleeves. You should be equally comfortable reviewing a scorecard, coaching a leader, speaking with customers, reorganizing the day, and working beside the team in the field.
What you will own:
· Lead daily operations. Build and adjust the game plan, assign teams and trucks, manage routes, respond to callouts, and keep the day moving safely and efficiently.
· Lead from the front. Provide hands-on field support whenever needed, including riding on trucks, lifting and removing items, handling equipment, and helping the team finish strong.
· Develop people. Coach frontline team members through clear expectations, daily feedback, role practice, ride-alongs, one-on-ones, recognition, and accountability.
· Drive performance. Use scorecards and operating systems to improve revenue, labor efficiency, customer experience, sales execution, safety, fleet readiness, and other key performance indicators.
· Protect the customer experience. Monitor job quality and customer feedback, solve concerns quickly, and ensure accurate notes, payments, estimates, and job information.
· Build a strong team. Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, retention, and career development.
· Maintain operational discipline. Ensure facilities, trucks, tools, equipment, uniforms, and required systems are organized, safe, accurate, and ready for the day.
What success looks like:
· The team trusts your leadership because you are present, consistent, fair, and willing to do the work you ask of others.
· Daily operations run with urgency and discipline, even when staffing, weather, equipment, or customer needs change the plan.
· Managers and team members improve because coaching is frequent, specific, and followed by accountability.
· Performance improves across the scorecard without sacrificing safety, culture, or the customer experience.
· The business becomes less dependent on one person because you develop capable leaders and durable systems.
What you bring:
· Proven leadership experience. 2+ years leading teams in operations, logistics, field service, hospitality, retail, construction, moving, or another fast-paced service environment preferred.
· Hands-on credibility. A demonstrated willingness to work beside frontline employees and support physically demanding work - not only direct it.
· People development skills. You can set expectations, coach different personalities, address performance directly, resolve conflict, and help emerging leaders grow.
· Operational judgment. You organize competing priorities, make timely decisions, delegate appropriately, and stay calm when the day changes.
· Business ownership. You understand how staffing, labor, sales, quality, safety, and customer experience affect profitability.
· Clear communication. You communicate effectively in person and through phone, text, email, and operating systems.
· Reliability and character. You follow through, take accountability, protect the team, and do the right thing when no one is watching.
Role requirements:
· Schedule: Early starts are standard (typically 6:30 a.m.). Some Saturdays, evenings, after-hours calls, and schedule flexibility are required based on business needs.
· Physical work: Ability and willingness to repeatedly lift 50+ pounds, safely move bulky items, work indoors and outdoors, and perform the essential duties of a field team member when supporting operations.
· Driving: Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.
· Technology: Comfort using spreadsheets, scorecards, scheduling tools, email, messaging platforms, and multiple operating systems.
· Travel: Occasional travel may be required for training or to support the broader organization.
· Screening: Employment is contingent upon completion of applicable background and driving-record checks.
