About the Role
We are a growing property management company seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support the day-to-day accounting operations across our residential portfolio. In this role you will handle the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions that keep our properties running smoothly — from processing vendor invoices to posting rent payments and maintaining accurate tenant ledgers. Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable, including coding, entering, and scheduling vendor invoices, utility bills, and maintenance expenses for multiple properties.
- Post and reconcile accounts receivable, including tenant rent payments, late fees, and other resident charges.
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers and follow up on delinquent accounts in coordination with property managers.
- Perform monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and enter journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close.
- Process security deposit accounting, including move-in charges, move-out dispositions, and refunds.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Assist with utility billing (RUBS) and common area/CAM reconciliations as applicable.
- Support 1099 preparation and maintain accurate vendor W-9 records.
- Generate and distribute routine financial reports to property managers and ownership.
- Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records in compliance with company and audit standards.
- Provide general administrative and accounting support to the finance team as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts payable/receivable experience; property management or real estate experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of property management accounting software (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, or RealPage) a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with spreadsheets and data entry.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and the general ledger.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy under deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multifamily or residential property management.
- Familiarity with AppFolio or a comparable property management platform.
- Understanding of tenant ledgers, security deposit accounting, and CAM/RUBS reconciliations.
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
