About shiftNOW
Hospitality runs on people, and the hardest part of running any restaurant, hotel, or venue is having enough of the right people on the floor. Turnover is constant, no-shows happen on the busiest nights, and seasonal swings never stop. That problem isn't going away, and shiftNOW is how the Southeast's best operators solve it.
shiftNOW is the on-demand workforce platform built for hospitality. Restaurants, hotels, catering companies, breweries, and country clubs post their open shifts, and vetted, locally rated "shifters" claim them. No staffing-agency markups, no strangers, just proven local workers ready to go. When operators work the same shifters again and again, shiftNOW doubles as a hiring pipeline: they get to see someone perform on real shifts before ever bringing them on full-time. We're not just filling gaps, we're helping venues build their teams.
We're a growing company expanding across the Southeast (Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, Savannah, and Atlanta), and we're hiring our next Business Development Representative to work out of our Charleston home base.
The role
As a BDR, your number one job is booking meetings. You're the first conversation an operator has with shiftNOW, and your goal is to turn that first touch into a qualified meeting for our Account Executives and Account Managers, the people who run the demo and close the deal. You'll find hospitality businesses that are struggling to stay staffed, start real conversations, qualify them, and hand off a warm meeting.
You're selling something operators genuinely need, to people who feel the pain every single week. This is an in-person, phone-first, roll-up-your-sleeves sales role based full-time out of our Mount Pleasant office, ideal for someone early in their career who loves hospitality and wants to build a real sales career alongside a team, not from a spare bedroom.
What you'll do
- Book qualified meetings for our AEs and AMs, this is the heartbeat of the role and how your success is measured
- Prospect daily across the territory: restaurants, hotels, caterers, breweries, and clubs actively hiring or short-staffed
- Make outbound calls, send personalized emails, and reach out on LinkedIn to hospitality decision-makers (owners, GMs, F&B directors)
- Spot urgency signals: active job postings, "now hiring" signs, new openings, seasonal ramp-ups
- Qualify prospects and set clean, well-briefed handoffs so the closing team walks in ready
- Get out into the local Charleston-area market for in-person drop-ins that turn into booked meetings (this is a relationship business)
- Keep your pipeline clean and organized in HubSpot and Apollo
- Learn the product cold so you can speak to operators like a peer, not a script
Who you are
This is an entry-level role, so you don't need a long sales resume to apply. If you've got sales experience, that's what we're really looking for, but the right attitude and hospitality background will get you just as far.
- Some sales experience preferred (BDR/SDR, retail, or serving/bartending where you upsold and hustled), but not required
- Comfortable on the phone and not afraid of a cold call
- Organized, very self-motivated, and coachable
- A clear, warm communicator in writing and in person
- Bonus: you've worked in or around hospitality and know the daily chaos firsthand
