Job Summary
The Town of Brentwood is seeking a skilled and dependable Public Works Foreman/Supervisor to lead daily operations of the Town’s Public Works Department. This position serves as a working supervisor responsible for directing staff, coordinating daily assignments, maintaining Town infrastructure and facilities, operating equipment, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to the community.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who values teamwork, accountability, safety, and excellent customer service. The Foreman/Supervisor will work closely with the Town Administrator and Public Works team to maintain streets, parks, stormwater systems, facilities, and other municipal assets.
Duties
- Supervise, train, and provide daily direction to Public Works employees.
- Assign work priorities and monitor completion of daily tasks.
- Perform and oversee maintenance activities related to:
- Streets and sidewalks
- Storm drains and drainage systems
- Parks and grounds
- Public facilities
- Landscaping and right-of-way maintenance
- Operate and maintain Town vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and infrastructure.
- Respond to resident service requests and ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, inventory, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Assist with snow removal, severe weather response, and emergency operations.
- Support compliance with safety requirements and municipal regulations.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, safety, and accountability.
- Communicate effectively with residents, contractors, vendors, and Town staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Public Works, municipal maintenance, construction, facilities, or a related field.
- Previous supervisory or lead worker experience preferred.
- Valid Maryland Driver’s License required.
- CDL Class B license preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a municipal government environment.
- OSHA safety training or certification (OSHA 10, OSHA 30)
- Equipment operator certifications.
- Stormwater, landscaping, facilities, or road maintenance experience.
- Experience supervising a small team and coordinating daily operations.
Schedule & Work Environment
This is a full-time position. The employee may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or emergency assignments during severe weather events or other urgent operational needs.

Pay: $35.00 - $37.26 per hour
