Full-service Bus Transportation Company is seeking a full-time
Diesel lead mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on passenger buses in a safe, cost efficient, and timely manner. Certifications are required. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication and record keeping skills. Salary is based on experience and hours can range from 50-55 per week. Company Maintenance Vehicle provided. Company benefit package is available after 30 days, which include health insurance, 401K, and paid time off after 1 year with holidays off.
Minimum requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on heavy-duty diesel or commercial fleet experience.
- Experience with buses, motorcoaches, medium/heavy trucks, or similar commercial vehicles.
- Strong experience with:
- Air brake diagnosis and repair
- Suspension and steering
- Diesel engine diagnosis
- DEF/SCR/DPF emissions systems
- Electrical and charging systems
- Starting systems
- Cooling systems
- Preventive maintenance
- Wheel ends/bearings
- Air systems and air leaks
- Ability to use diagnostic software and scan tools rather than simply replacing parts until the problem disappears.
- Ability to independently diagnose a vehicle from a driver's complaint through final repair.
- Ability to document repairs, parts used, labor, and findings in Fleeti.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger and air-brake endorsements (I would prefer they already have it).
- Cummins experience.
- Allison transmission experience.
- Experience with Blue Bird, Freightliner, International, MCI, Prevost, Temsa, Vanhool and Ford commercial chassis.
- Experience with JPRO, Cummins INSITE, Allison DOC, Bendix ACom, or equivalent diagnostic platforms.
- Commercial vehicle HVAC experience.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or extensive heavy truck repair background with strong mechanical knowledge.
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics, electrical system repair, hydraulics, suspension alignment, and transmission servicing.
- Proficient in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex vehicle systems.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery safely and efficiently.
- Ability to use power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools effectively.
- Knowledge of diesel engine repair including turbochargers, fuel systems, and emissions controls.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
