Mad Tax is seeking a part-time tax preparer who, over time, the role can become full-time as the company grows, and the right person exceeds expectations. The ideal candidate will be ambitious and help the owner achieve the company's strategic goals and objectives, working side by side with the owner.
Performance Objectives are:
- Demonstrate working proficiency in preparing and analyzing Form 1040 and related schedules (Schedule C, Schedule E, Schedule D) by accurately completing client returns, identifying key tax implications, and explaining results to the owner and the taxpayer.
- Accurately prepare and review individual and business tax returns, ensuring completeness, correctness, and timely delivery.
- Maintain full compliance with all applicable tax laws and filing requirements across jurisdictions.
- Deliver a client experience that builds trust, loyalty, and active advocacy.
- Continuously update knowledge of tax laws and translate changes into practical application.
- Deliver clear, concise, and professional oral and written communication that drives understanding, alignment, and timely action across clients and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Learn how to answer questions and provide solutions, if possible, to clients
- Able to use the Tax Software to prepare tax returns
- Resolves client complaints or refers situations to the supervisor for resolution (as appropriate).
- Use empathy and communication skills to help the everyday taxpayers
Qualifications:
- A maximum of 2-5 years of experience in preparing tax returns.
- Familiarity with TaxDome and Taxslayer is a plus
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Google
- Workplace Office Products, with at least 1 year of experience.
- Comfortable learning and using new software products, firm technology, and internal procedures
- Strong communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills

- Self-starter who can work interdependently while managing the priorities of the business owner

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and adjust quickly to new or changing assignments.
- Must have own current computer (Windows 11 or Current Mac Tahoe Os 26.1) and a great internet setup
Job Type:
Part-time (1099)
Schedule:
Monday through Friday: 15 to 20 hours a week, part-time to start, and up to 30 to 40 hours
hours when the role transitions to full-time.
Pay:
$18 to 20 per hour
