RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess the patient’s functional status (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, communication skills, self-care, work capacity, etc.).
Collaborate in developing a comprehensive care plan.
Design a treatment program with goals for improved function and communicate the plan to the referring physician and other team members.
Teach or retrain patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury, following company policies.
Fabricate splints and instruct patients on using adaptive equipment to enhance function.
Provide training in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
Maintain accurate clinical records and report any changes in the patient’s condition to the physician.
Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for additional services and make appropriate referrals.
Educate patients’ families/caregivers and other team members on the patient’s treatment plan.
Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants in accordance with organization policies and state regulations.
Participate in discharge planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program recognized by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Licensed to practice as an OT in New Jersey.
Minimum of one year of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
Current BLS Certification.
Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
