Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that support toddler development across cognitive, social, emotional, and physical domains.
- Create a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence.
- Manage daily classroom activities, including circle time, play-based learning, arts and crafts, and physical activities tailored for toddlers.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about each child's progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones through updates and conferences.
- Apply behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills among children.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including first aid and CPR procedures, to maintain a secure environment for children.
- Document child development progress using standardized testing tools and maintain accurate records of daily activities and observations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan lessons that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, and early intervention strategies when needed.
- Follow mandated reporting laws diligently to report any concerns related to child welfare or safety issues promptly.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, classroom management, special education needs, and early childhood best practices.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in a classroom or childcare setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles specific to toddlers and preschool-aged children.
- Experience developing curriculum plans that include literacy education, math skills, physical education, and behavioral management techniques.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in health and safety standards is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare is essential.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior positively while fostering an inclusive environment for all children.
- Experience working with special education or early intervention programs is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to early childhood education principles such as play-based learning and developmental appropriateness.
