Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team to help cover a maternity leave for a long-time hygienst in our practice. At a minimum, we are looking for the candidate to cover a Wednesay shift, with patient time from 9:00- 5:00. In this role, you will be the cornerstone of patient care, providing comprehensive dental hygiene services that promote oral health and enhance patient experiences. Your expertise will help ensure our patients receive top-quality preventive care in a friendly, professional environment. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take digital radiographs accurately while adhering to safety protocols.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and personalized care plans.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Fuse.
- Follow infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic technique and infection control standards, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support general dentistry procedures by assisting dentists during examinations, treatments, and other clinical tasks.
- Manage dental equipment maintenance and sterilization processes to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice legally.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably within a general or pediatric dentistry environment.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Fuse for scheduling, documentation review, and medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance management and maintaining strict confidentiality of medical records.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle dental equipment confidently during procedures.
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems (EMR systems), X-ray procedures, and documentation review processes.
- Our office also has a Diode laser for hygiene use, making Laser certification an application preference.
