Job Summary:
We are looking for a Spin Instructor for our Deland YMCA location. Guided by the mission of the YMCA, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading group classes, providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness.
Job Specific Functions:
· Building effective relationships with members and helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
· Keeping accurate class attendance records.
· Assures that the group exercise studio is clean, presentable and clear of hazards at all times.
· Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group indoor cycling (spin) classes with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Design and deliver structured workouts (intervals, endurance rides, hill climbs, etc.)
- Provide clear instructions on bike setup, form, and technique
- Motivate and inspire participants through coaching and music selection
- Ensure participant safety by monitoring intensity levels and offering modifications
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment
- Build rapport with members to encourage retention and engagement
- Stay current with fitness trends and indoor cycling techniques
Qualifications
- Certification in indoor cycling or group fitness (e.g., Spinning® Program, ACE, or AFAA)
- CPR/AED certification (required)
- Previous teaching or fitness instruction experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead high-energy classes and motivate diverse groups

- Ability to adapt workouts for beginners through advanced participants

Working Conditions
- Typically part-time, with early morning, evening, or weekend shifts
- Fast-paced, physically active environment
- Loud music and studio lighting may be used
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate cycling techniques and maintain endurance during classes
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the studio
- Capability to lift or adjust equipment (e.g., bikes) when necessary
Prerequisites:
· Minimum age: 18
· Education: HS or equivalent
· These are all part time positions and hours are flexible based on schedule. Compensation is $15 to $25 per hour.
