Warehouse Manager
An established distribution organization is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead daily operations at our strategic location near the O’Hare Airport. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who oversees a team of warehouse personnel, inventory accuracy, and inbound and outbound global shipments. This role requires expertise in warehouse operations, international logistics, import/export documentation, customs compliance, and continuous improvement of operational performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and direct warehouse employees to ensure daily priorities, project deadlines, quality standards, and safety expectations are met. Provide clear direction and escalate performance, staffing and operational concerns as needed.
- Oversee day to day warehouse operations, managing company and client assess throughout the full warehouse lifecycle of global import and export, including inventory control, staging, asset preparation, packing, shipping, receiving, and warehouse organization.
- Communicate directly with our international operations team to ensure transnational outbound assets are pulled, packed, prepped, labeled, and documented subject to specific international requirements related to marking / tagging/ documentation.
- Establish efficient inventory management practices based on asset utilization and efficient space utilization.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete inventory records in asset management systems, including asset status, location, condition, ownership, availability, and disposition notes.
- Conduct regular inventory audits, and location checks; research and resolve discrepancies in partnership with operations, project, and client teams.
- · Oversee proper loading and unloading of assets, materials, and freight to prevent damage, loss, or safety incidents.
- Manage client storage agreements, ensuring client owned assets are maintained/destroyed as outlined in the agreement. Coordinates with Director, or Account Manager regarding agreement renewals.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for warehouse-related questions and workflows.
- Oversee the receiving and inspection of returning assets for damage, verify condition, quantities, and completeness before returning items to inventory. Escalates issues timely to project teams.
- Identify missing components, wear, contamination, or repair needs; document findings and coordinate follow-up actions with appropriate internal teams.
- Coordinate repair, cleaning, replacement, disposal, or quarantine of damaged, obsolete, incomplete, or client-directed assets.
- Manages inbound and outbound shipments, including small parcel, LTL, truckload, courier, and project-specific transportation needs.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, lifts, and other equipment, in accordance with training and safety requirements.
- Maintain warehouse equipment, tools, shipping supplies, packing materials, and safety equipment needed for daily operations.
- Maintain warehouse, racking, staging areas, aisles, and dock areas to support efficient workflows, asset protection, and inventory accuracy.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, organized, and compliant warehouse environment in accordance with company standards, OSHA and TSA requirements, and applicable policies.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and solutions-focused attitude in a deadline-driven environment in compliance with company standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, asset management, or related experience.
- 3 or more years of proven success in international documentation and shipping experience
- 1 or more years of experience leading teams or supervising employees.
- Demonstrated experience managing physical assets, inventory records, shipping documentation, and return-to-inventory processes.
- Working knowledge of receiving, packing, shipping, freight coordination, Bills of Lading, parcel shipping, LTL, and truckload logistics.
- High attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy, asset protection, and shipment quality.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to identify and define problems, and present valid solutions to key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to navigate between competing priorities, quickly identify and manage prioritization, be able to meet business deliverables.
- Forklift Certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- High School or GED equivalent or higher
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience using asset management, warehouse management, inventory, ERP, or shipping software.
- Experience coordinating freight, packing standards, and high-value or client-owned asset movement.
- Bilingual skills preferred based on site needs.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with some exposure to outdoor conditions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and frequently lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
