Our client is a Civilian GovCon Company seeking a detail oriented and proactive Part Time Contract Specialist to support the administration, compliance and lifecycle management of federal government contracts.
In this role, you will support contract administration activities across federal and select state government contracts including contract modifications, subcontract coordination, compliance monitoring, proposal support and documentation management. This position is ideal for a contracts professional who understands government procurement processes, thrives in a deadline driven environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
The Contract Specialist will collaborate closely with operations, finance, program management, leadership and government stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations and internal processes are executed efficiently and in accordance with applicable regulations.
This is a primarily remote position with one onsite day per month in Bethesda, Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain government contracts, task orders, modifications, purchase orders and subcontract agreements
- Review contract terms and conditions to support compliance, accuracy and risk mitigation
- Track funding ceilings, contract deliverables, periods of performance, option years and renewal timelines
- Maintain organized and audit ready contract documentation and records
- Support contract closeout activities and documentation requirements
- Coordinate contract modifications, amendments and change requests
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, federal procurement regulations and internal company policies
- Monitor reporting requirements, labor categories, certifications and contractual deliverables
- Support internal reviews, audits and compliance related activities
- Assist with proposal preparation, pricing support, labor category alignment and rate verification activities
- Collaborate with business development and operational teams during proposal efforts
- Coordinate with finance regarding invoicing, funding actions and contract reconciliation
- Communicate contract updates, deadlines and compliance requirements to leadership and project teams
- Support subcontractor documentation and compliance tracking
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams and contracting officers or government representatives
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting government contract administration, procurement or compliance activities
- Experience supporting federal government contracts strongly preferred
- Experience supporting IT or defense focused government contracting environments preferred
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS and federal procurement processes
- Experience with government contracting systems such as Deltek, SAP, Oracle or similar platforms preferred
- Familiarity with GSA Schedules, IDIQs, BPAs and state procurement environments
- Strong analytical, organizational and documentation management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contracts Management, Public Administration, Finance or related field preferred
- CPCM certification preferred but not required
Work Environment
- Primarily remote work environment with one onsite day per month in Bethesda, MD
- Part time structure averaging approximately 15 to 20 hours per week with lighter workload periods depending on business needs
- Fast paced government contracting environment supporting federal and state contract operations
- No active security clearance required for this role
