GDM-AE, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned engineering and construction management firm, is hiring a Safety & Industrial Hygiene Specialist to support facility engineering operations at a federal healthcare campus in Grand Junction. This is a long-term (3+ year), on-site position supporting an active medical center with ongoing construction.
Core Duties
- Perform job hazard analyses and PPE determinations across facility operations
- Maintain OSHA-compliant lockout/tagout programs and equipment inventories
- Conduct safety checks of construction sites and work activities
- Run respirator fit testing and maintain documentation
- Support fire drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and environment-of-care rounds
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses
- Develop and update facility safety SOPs; support the Safety Management System
- Support hearing conservation and sharps log tracking, and safety equipment procurement
- Cross-support construction inspection and facility assessment activities as assigned
Additional possible facility support duties (this role works as part of an integrated on-site engineering team)
- Construction quality inspections, verifying installed work against drawings and specifications, documenting site conditions with photo reports
- Infection control (ICRA) and interim life safety measure (ILSM) compliance verification on active construction sites
- Facility equipment inventory and condition assessment supporting lifecycle maintenance planning
- Space and location verification walk-downs supporting facility database accuracy
- Field investigation of facility problem areas alongside the engineering staff
Required Experience
- 8+ years EHS experience (construction, industrial, or healthcare settings)
- OSHA 30 (construction or general industry)
- Respirator fit-test administration experience
- Working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910/1926; incident investigation/RCA experience
- Strong written reporting — findings reports, SOPs, briefings
- Ability to pass federal background investigation and obtain facility credentials (PIV)
Preferred: healthcare facility or Joint Commission EOC experience; COSS/OHST/CHST/ASP; HAZWOPER; CDPHE asbestos or lead certification; instructor-level training credentials; veterans strongly encouraged to apply.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
