Primary Functions
The Kitchen Aide will assist cooks with food preparation and serving of meals in addition to ensuring food is safely stored, prepared and served and kitchen is clean and stocked.
Position Content
Essential Functions:
· Follow menu directions and recipes.
· Take and record food temperatures as required.
· Follow Board of Health policies and procedures.
· Assist with Inventory and stocking food as needed.
· Assist in dish room, using a dishware machine and 3-bay sink. Check proper chemical concentration daily and record on chemical logs.
· Wash, rinse and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils and pans. Air dry and store in proper locations.
· Sweep and mop kitchen and dish area at the end of shift. Clean throughout kitchen, storage areas, refrigeration areas and cafeteria seating as needed.
· Follow closing procedures and ensure all areas of the kitchen are clean and locked at the end of shift.
· Promptly notify supervisor of any supply needs or issues.
· Periodically assist with programs or other functions outside of core working day or hours.
· Be willing to help with needs throughout all Catholic Charities programs as needed.

· Must have clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of Catholic Charities Terre Haute.

Education, Training, and/or Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· ServSafe, preferred. If not already ServSafe certified, Catholic Charities will assist with certification process.
· Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
· Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
· Background screening required
· Ability to reliably travel to off-site locations on a regular basis, including travel of up to two hours
from the office, using personal or alternative transportation.
Working Environment
- Environment – kitchen.
- Exposures encountered – Loud noise, extreme heat/cold.
- Physical demands, as applies: Bending/ stooping/ stretching/ walking/ standing/ sitting/ lifting up to 50 lbs., regularly.
· Shift requirements: Primarily afternoon and evenings, with occasional days, weekends and holidays
· Must be able to communicate extensively and effectively with staff and community partners via telephone, 1:1 conversations, face-to-face and written correspondence
· Ability to travel to and work as needed at various locations in and around Terre Haute, Indiana
